Charles Wolf Composition Biography<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Charles Wolf is an award winning composer and professional arranger. He holds a Master of Music Degree in Composition\/Music Theory from Texas State University, and a Bachelor of Music in Music Composition from California State University, Stanislaus where he graduated Summa Cum Laude<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He won second place at the Texas State Annual Composition Competition, Spring 2014 for his Piano Trio No. 1, Reverie and Firebrand<\/em>. His compositions feature a post-modernist style of current classical concert music, specializing in strings, piano, sax, and vocal works for both chamber and large ensembles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charles Wolf has studied with several notable composers, including Dr. Russell Riepe, active film and TV composer Richard Hall, and most recently with Dr. Michael Ippolito, a former student of the great living American composer John Corigliano at Julliard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charles Wolf\u2019s arranging work includes original arrangements of hymns, musical numbers, popular music, folk tunes and more, for The Redwood Violin and Piano Duo, a professional performing ensemble of which Charles Wolf is a founding member. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Composition Lessons<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Composition lessons are available to students of all ages, backgrounds, and style interests. Students are expected to be able to play an instrument with reasonable technique and to bring their instrument to EACH lesson. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A basic knowledge of music fundamentals is required, including note reading in at least one clef, understanding of basic rhythms and meters, and scales. Each lesson will be adapted to suit the student\u2019s needs and experience level. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Composition lessons will primarily emphasize the composition of modern classical concert music, but other styles and genres are possible. During the lessons, the student will be exposed to a variety of styles, genres, and composers as a source of inspiration and with the purpose of highlighting various techniques. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each week the student will work on their original compositions as well as additional assignments and exercises which the Instructor will assign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
